Special Lecture

We are pleased to announce the special lecture at the opening ceremony on July 25th 2018, featuring Dr. Yoshiyuki Sankai, who is professor and Executive Research Director at the Center for Cybernics Research, University of Tsukuba, President and CEO of CYBERDYNE, INC., and a Program Manager of the Impulsing Paradigm Change through Disruptive Technologies (“ImPACT”) program.

Biography

Yoshiyuki Sankai earned a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Tsukuba in Japan in 1987. He has progressed from being a research fellow at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (“JSPS”) to assistant professor, associate professor, and then professor at the Graduate School of Systems and Information Engineering, University of Tsukuba. Dr. Sankai is also a visiting professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in the United States. Currently, he is a professor and Executive Research Director at the Center for Cybernics Research, University of Tsukuba; the President and CEO of CYBERDYNE, INC.; and a Program Manager of the Impulsing Paradigm Change through Disruptive Technologies (“ImPACT”), a program, which was initiated by the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (CSTI) of the Cabinet Office of Japan.

His robot suit HALR acquired the medical device CE marking (CE 0197) in the EU in August 2013 and the medical approval from the U.S. FDA in December 2017. In addition, its use for medical treatment is being covered by public workers’ compensation insurance in Germany. This feat was followed by an approval from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan to manufacture and distribute this new medical device in November 2015, and public insurance coverage was approved for medical treatment with HALR to slow the progression of rare neuromuscular diseases in January 2016.

Special Concerts

Sukeroku Daiko

Sukeroku Taiko was the first Kumi-Taiko group in Japan to use “Namae Dai”, the traditional Bon Taiko style of placing the drum diagonally on a stand, instead of flat on the ground. This stand is now known as the “Sukeroku Dai (stand)” and is incredibly popular in Japan and all around the world.

Ms. Mariko Tone

Ms.Mariko_Tone
1988 Mariko Tone made her debut as a singer in 1988. Her first song was Derringer and it was chosen as a theme song of the TV anime program, Cats Eye Part II. She also appeared on various TV and radio shows and commercials.
1997 She published a novel Always Keep a Balancing Toy in My Heart (in Japanese, 『いつも心にヤジロベエ』), which is based on her own experience she had been bullied. Besides giving lectures, she interacted with Hikikomori (children who avoids social contact) and children with school refusal, provided chances to communicate with people with disability and non-handicapped together, and produced a musical band group of people with disabilities.
2005 As a producer, she created IMAGINE 9.11, a play, based on a true story which happened in America and Japan during the five days after the 9.11. She appeared on the stage as an actress as well.
2011 To respond her fans’ expectations, she restarted her solo concert.
2015 She started a musical titled Bokko: Revenge upon Bullying Is to Be Happy, which is a part of the 15-year plan to eliminate bullying in Japan.
2018 Under the slogan of “Stop! Bullying and Hikikomori”, she promotes the project, Human Love Aid ~Building the Society People Support Each Other~.

The discount will be applied to the total amount of the tour price if you meet the following conditions.

*For further information about the Japan Rail Pass, please click here. If you use the Japan Rail Pass for the Kyoto tour, you can choose any bullet train, (shinkansen), except the Nozomi.
**“Twin room for two people” means staying at a twin room with your accompanying person. You cannot choose a twin room for one person for this tour. If you join the tour alone, the single room will be assigned.

To book one of these tours, please send an email to ispa2018tokyo @gloria-eurex.com, Gloria Eurex Co., Ltd. with the information below. After receiving your email, Gloria Eurex Co., Ltd. will send you a confirmation mail within 10 business days.

IF we need to cancel the tour because it does not reach the minimum number of participants, the notice will be sent by email before/on July 13, 2018. The tour website for ISPA participants will inform you whether the tour is cancelled or not as soon as we confirm it (click here).

Making a new reservation after July 5

If you would like to make a new reservation after July 5 2018, please send an email to ispa2018tokyo@gloria-eurex.com to ask about the availability of the tour. The travel company will take your reservation until the number of the participants reaches to the maximum number for each tour.

A. Credit Card

After confirming your tour reservation, Gloria Eurex Co., Ltd. will inform you the following procedure to pay the fee by credit card.

B. Cash (Japanese yen only)

If you would like to pay in cash, please come and pay at the tour desk at the conference venue.

Cancellation Policy

Any cancellation by you must be sent by email to ispa2018tokyo@gloria-eurex.com.
You will be charged the cancellation fee depending on the day you cancel your reservation, as listed below.

Cancellation charges (Japan time, GMT+9)

If the reservation is canceled,

  • 14 to 20 day before the tour starts: 20% of the total fee
  • 8 to 13 days before the tour starts: 30% of the total fee
  • 2 to 7 days before the tour starts: 40% of the total fee
  • The day before the tour starts: 50% of the total fee
  • On the day: 100% of the total fee
